Say what you want about the Kardashian sisters, but you cannot deny the fact that they're faces stay BEAT. Seriously, if you've never looked at Kim's face and wondered how it always looks so flawless you're LYING. (Having one of the best plastic surgeons on speed dial probably helps but whatever).

Since I'm on the perpetual hunt for the best products and techniques concerning cosmetics, I though it only fitting to research the living hell out of the man behind the makeup magic, Kim's long-time go-to makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. Seriously, this man is incredibly talented! I'm obsessed with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Makeup by Mario Palette, that sadly was a limited time product (and I've hit pan on almost ALL of the shadows). While I patiently wait for another collab to happen, Mario offers Masterclasses in select cities around the world where he literally teaches peasants like me his top tips and tricks and even has Kim on stage to demonstrate how he does it. Not only do these masterclasses sell out incredibly quickly, a basic entry ticket will run you about $400.  Granted you get to go home with a serious swag bag of cosmetics and armed with knowledge from a beauty superstar.

One day I will get my hands on one of these tickets, but as for now, check out  some of Mario's top tricks and tips that I've been able to glean from my research and some masterclass attendees.

1. Skip the Primer

I actually found this tip surprising, since I'm a firm believer in primer. Mario advises to swap face primer for an emollient moisturizer, he suggests Kiehls Ultra Face Cream. The reasoning behind this tip is that moisturizer softens the skin for better blending, while primer creates a barrier between the foundation and the skin. I agree with this if you're going for a dewier look, but when it comes to matte foundations (especially if you're older) a blurring primer is a must. Then again, who I am to argue with Mario's expertise?

2. Apply Foundation Everywhere

I've been doing this trick for years now, mostly because I'm normally very fair and I prefer to always be a shade or two darker. Also, nothing drives me crazier than when girls forget to blend their foundation down their neck! Be sure to always apply a little bit of your foundation or bronzer down your neck, as well as blending into your hairline and if you're wearing a chest or shoulder baring top, dabbing a bit of foundation on your shoulders and chest, it goes a long way. Plus, it makes your skin look amazing. I'm a huge fan of using my face foundation on my upper torso

3. Use 2 Different Shades for Filling in Eyebrows

To achieve the perfect "ombre" brow" Mario always uses a darker shade on the arch and end of brows, and shades in the center and beginning with a lighter complementary shade. He claims he hates the "Instagram brow" look and like a soft shaded look versus a sharp one.

4. Triple Line Your Eyes

Apparently we've been applying eyeliner wrong this whole time. To get bolder and lasting pigment, Mario uses a three step lining system: 1) Kohl 2) Liquid 3) Gel/Cream. I mentioned in one of my past makeup hack posts that going over liquid eyeliner with a gel is great tip for packing on pigment and longevity, but I've never tried using a kohl liner as my base. According to Mario, it makes your eyeliner look "more expensive."

5. Sexy and Full Lashes

I was under the impression that Kim achieved her full and sultry lashes from extensions but apparently I was wrong! To achieve the perfect lash look, he uses up to three coats of L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara from the roots to tips and then separates lashes with a lash comb. Then he individually applies a mix of long and extra long flared individual lashes (you can buy really good ones at CVS) using tweezers and black adhesive. Once they're dry, he applies one more coat of mascara over the falsies and real lashes.  I used to love applying individual lashes but trust me when I say it takes SUCH a long time.

6. Lip Scrub + Toothbrush= Perfect Lipstick

Sorry Kylie, but Mario isn't a fan of liquid lipsticks! Instead of using "dehydrating" liquid lippies, Mario prefers glossy finishes and tinted balms, as well as lipliners. If you just can't live without your favorite matte lipstick, exfoliate lips with a lip scrub and a clean toothbrush, to prevent lips from drying and flaking. I persfonally ecfoliate my lips several times a week, it makes your lips look healthier and also plumper!

7. Bake Your Under Eyes

I'm a huge fan of baking under eyes, it has literally changed my concealer and how I apply it. This process involves gently blending out your concealer and then pressing loose translucent powder onto the concealed areas with a damp beauty blender and allowing it to sit for 30 seconds. This technique ensures a flawless finish that stays all day with little to no creasing or cracking. I highly recommend the RCMA No Color powder for baking, which can be used all over the face, as shown on Kim above.

8. Bolder and Better Eyeshadow

So Mario just really isn't a fan of any type of primer because he doesn't even use it for eyeshadow! Mario says that using a cream based shadow and then layering powder on top creates incredible lasting pigment that you otherwise wouldn't necessarily get with a traditional eye primer. I myself don't use a primer, I use my concealer on top of my lids because the creamy consistency allows shadows to stick well, and not budge. Plus it makes my eyes look more awake by concealing veins and discoloration in my eyelids.

9.  Wash Brushes with Tea Tree Oil & Baby Shampoo

The key to any flawless makeup application is not only having good brushes, but clean brushes. You don't have to go and buy some top-notch high-tech brush cleaner. According to Mario (and my personal experience), a little tea tree oil and warm water + baby shampoo (for a deep clean) is all you need to restore your brushes to clean perfection.

10. Bye Bye Lip Lines

You know those annoying little fine lines that you sometimes get when you apply lip liner? Turns out those can be avoided the same way they can be on your face- by blending really well! Mario says he's a fan of using lip liner as an all-over lip product, meaning filling the entire lip in with a liner. He suggests blending the color in with your finger, the warmth from your skin diffusing the product effectively onto lips. Then, take a clear or tinted balm and apply over the liner, for a flawless and nourishing finish. Since we all know Kim's go-to lip colors are nudes, this is great for a more natural look if you're a fellow nude lover. Mario also suggests going a shade darker than your skin tone for a natural yet pigmented look.
