I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Fashion Unmasked, a unique blog dedicated to highlighting fashion professionals, influencers, icons. Run by a fellow LIM student, Vidhi Chowdari, I was instantly attracted to her initiative and was so happy when she asked to feature me!

CAN YOU TELL OUR READERS ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BLOG?
I grew up in North Carolina and I was always into fashion, but the world around me didn’t reflect the fashion I wanted to see. Two years ago, I decided to move to New York to attend LIM College and experience the world of fashion
My blog is called The Inquisitive Diva. The motivation behind my page is to inform and educate people on makeup products, fashion style/trends, lifestyle, and more. My blog is as honest as it gets, I feel that honesty is lacking in the blogging industry. Influencers/Bloggers are being paid to advertise products that they don’t necessarily use or believe in. You have all these YouTube tutorials and beauty bloggers/ influencers that look flawless and perfect, but it’s not easy as they make it look.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE AESTHETIC?
I am a giant contradiction because I change my style all the time. I’m either very minimalistic and clean or I’m out there, in your face, and provocative. I oscillate between the two because I don’t like to feel pinned down by one style aesthetic
CAN YOU TELL ME SOME OF YOUR STRENGTHS THAT REALLY HELPED YOU IN BLOGGING? HOW DID YOU BUILD TRAFFIC?
Blogging is a very saturated industry which can be a roadblock for many who want to be bloggers. First thing is that you need to be authentic to yourself because if you're not people can see through it after a certain point
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST SERVICE A BLOGGER CAN PROVIDE TO THEIR READERS?
Provide authentic and honest information. Have a presence as a blogger, but also as a person. Share something that people want to hear. Everyone’s talking on the blogosphere. Say something valuable and present it in a different way
FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS?
WHERE ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING? WHAT DOES THE JOB ENTAIL?
I currently work at Patricia Field, costume designer for Sex and the City, Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopaholic. She is an incredible icon in the styling industry. She also has an art fashion gallery which is a studio space where she has eight to ten artists who paint, stud and appliqué garments in unique ways. It’s all hand-made, one of a kind. Everything can be purchased online and at the gallery. I help with marketing, social media, day to day operations, and I’m also Patricia Field's Personal Administrative Assistant.
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TIME TO RUN YOUR BLOG, WORK, AND CLASSES ALL THE SAME TIME?
I love it and I have a passion to do so. At the end of the day, you have to find a balance between all categories in your life. Even though it might be ultimately impossible. I’ve learned that if you really want something, you will make the time and find a way to get it done.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE IN YOUR POSITION?
In my experience when it comes to getting a job that you really want or building your way there, it’s about the energy and the attitude you bring to the table. It also circles back to how you should be enjoying what you do. Don’t do something just because it looks glamorous. You have to love what you do.
Be gracious to everyone you meet because you never know, you could be meeting your next employer and not know it
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE WITHIN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
At the end of the day, I want to have a career where I am constantly growing. I want to feel excited to go to work. I want to feel like I am contributing in an important way. I don’t know precisely what position that entails, but it’s essential to me to be part of a company that is progressive, always growing, and values a voice. I need to be heard creatively!
